About the producer:
The Riegele brewery in Augsburg first started producing beer under the name Spezi shortly after the Second World War. The drink was trademarked in 1956 with the slogan 'ein Spezi muss dabei sein'. At that time, Riegele was also one of the first breweries to produce soft drinks. In restaurants in Germany it was common to mix cola and orange soda for customers. But it was time-consuming for the innkeeper, took up space and the leftover lemonade and cola spoiled. So the brewery offered a ready-mixed drink on the market. The success was huge, and so the name Spezi ColaOrange was born. In 1977, Spezi Brandetränke Verband e. V. was founded and became the headquarters for licensing Spezi products with a voluntary board of directors, an executive director and a small secretariat. Today, Spezi is bottled in the German market by eight executive bottlers.
