About the brewery:
The Späten Brewery was founded 500 years ago in Munich and was successively managed by a number of prominent Munich families. Its name is derived from the Spatt family, to whom it belonged in the 17th century. At the end of the 19th century, they began brewing a Pilsner-style beer called Späten Münchner Hell, and even before World War I, they began exporting the beer to America. The brewery’s main period of growth is associated with several generations of the Sedlmayr family; in 1922, it merged with the Franziskaner brewery, and 70 years later, with the Löwenbräu brewery. The entire group then became part of the multinational Belgian group InBrew in 2003.
