Põhjala 21° Emberwood Porter

Põhjala Emberwood is a porter brewed from barley malts smoked with cherry wood and enriched with French oak shavings. The taste initially reveals a subtle vanilla note, followed by a deep and sweet maltiness with a light smokiness. The finish is long, smooth, with a hint of minerality and saltiness. The aroma offers notes of roasted wood, vanilla and a light smokiness, supported by a sweet maltiness in the background. The beer has a dark brown color with a reddish tint and a thick beige head. About the brewery:
Põhjala (translated as "North") is currently one of the best craft breweries in the world and its popularity is growing rapidly in Europe. Based in Tallinn, Estonia since 2013, it is made up of a team of beer enthusiasts who brew their beers in a 12 hl brewhouse. Their beers are among the more expensive, but they definitely surprise with their quality and labels. Their head brewer is Chris Pilkington, a former Brewdog brewer who also has his own coffee roaster in Tallinn. He is not afraid of experiments at all and combines his stouts and porters with anything he can think of. Experienced beer sommeliers claim that their porters are the best in the world!
