About the brewery:
The origin of Pilsen beer dates back to 1842, when the Bürgerliches Brauhaus Pilsen was founded. The brewery was supposed to brew Bavarian-type beer, for which brewer Josef Groll was invited from Bavaria. He brewed the first batch in the new brewery, and it didn't turn out quite as expected, but it was a great success. The recipe of this beer is still known all over the world as a Pilsner-type beer according to the place of its birth. In 1898, the brewery registered the trademark Pilsenský Prazdroj – Pilsner Urquell. Thanks to the art of the Pilsen brewers, its quality and its taste profile do not change either. After all, this is proven by regular laboratory comparisons, the oldest of which dates back to 1897. Pilsenský Prazdroj is an integral part of the national heritage and Czech beer culture. Its portfolio also includes the brands Gambrinus, Kozel, Radegast, Primus, Klasik, Excellent and Master. The brewery is part of the Asahi group.
