About the brewery:
The Kozel Brewery is located in Velké Popovice near Prague. It was founded in 1874, and the taste of their dark lager was immediately liked by the whole village and the surrounding area. In 1919, a French itinerant painter visited the village and dedicated a farewell painting of a goat, which became the symbol of the brewery. After World War II, Velkopopivický Kozel became a very popular brand in the Czech Republic and came up with the idea of the first tank beer pubs. Trucks brought tanks of beer directly to the pubs, so that even those who live far from Popovice could indulge in fresh Kozel. Thanks to its excellent quality and successful history, today Kozel is a very successful beer and the best-selling Czech beer brand in the world. Beers produced by the brewery are regularly successful in Czech and international beer competitions. The brewery, together with Pilsner Urquell, belongs to the Asahi Group.
