About the brewery:
Japan Brewery Company, the predecessor of KIRIN, was founded in 1885 and began brewing Kirin beer in 1888. In 1907, the brewery changed its name to Kirin was consistent in purchasing the best malts and hops and invested in brewing equipment. By 1972, the brewery had achieved a 60% share of the Japanese market. Launched in 1990, Kirin Ichiban beer is produced using a unique wort fitration process and soon became one of the brewery's most successful products. The hops used are exclusively Saaz hops, which are sourced from the Czech Republic, and the brewery purchases malts from Japan, North America, Europe and Australia. In 2010, Kirin established a collaboration with Weihenstephan in Germany, where the beer is brewed according to their recipe for Europe.
