Kernel 14° Export India Porter

Kernel 14° Export India Porter

Export India Porter is a beer inspired by a 19th century recipe originally brewed for British soldiers stationed in India. This traditional recipe has been adapted to suit modern tastes. Chocolate and crystal malt are added to the beer to temper the characteristic bitterness of black malt. The beer is cold-hopped, giving it the citrus and fruity notes typical of top-fermented beers. Each batch varies slightly, but always offers a richly coloured, full body with a roasty flavour and velvety head. Subtle nuances of coffee, cocoa and dark fruit emerge on the palate, coming together to create a rich and harmonious experience. Read more

About the brewery:
The London brewery Kernel is among the top in England. Their approach is both thoughtful and simple. Sometimes they focus on the bold aromas, flavors and bitterness of the hops, other times on the complex heat and layers of roasted malts. Sometimes they favour the cleanliness and freshness of cold fermentation, or let the acidity, tannins and texture that come from mixed fermentation, barrel ageing and working with wild yeasts and bacteria guide them. Yet their philosophy has always been to seek simplicity and balance, which is what makes their beers so unique and approachable at the same time.
