IJ 13° Zatte Tripel

IJ 13° Zatte Tripel

This was IJ's first beer in 1985. It is a tripel, a category reserved for stronger pale ales created in the Belgian tradition, and Zatte more than lives up to that expectation. It's a full-bodied golden ale with fresh fruit aromas and malty hints. The taste is slightly sweet and ends with a drier finish. A delicious classic that can be enjoyed in all seasons. More

About the brewery:
Brouwerij 't IJ has been brewing beer since 1985. It all started when musician Kasper Peterson was looking for an official outlet for his experimental home brew. He fell in love with the Belgian style of beer and since no similar beer was being brewed in Amsterdam, he decided to go in this direction. When he was looking for a suitable building to set up his brewery, he came across an old disused building of the city's baths. It was the perfect building for a brewery. As a bonus, he acquired the largest wooden windmill in the Netherlands right next door. IJ gradually grew into the largest and most famous brewery in Amsterdam. In 2005, the brewery was taken over by its current owners Bart Obertop and Patrick Hendrikse. Its production continued to grow, and in 2013 they built a new brewery just 700 metres from the original site.
