About the brewery:
Hoegaarden is a Belgian brewery founded in 1966 by Pierre Celis in Hoegaarden, producing wheat beer. After a fire in 1988, it was sold to the InBev brewery, based near Leuven. Pierre Celis moved to the United States, where he founded the Celis brewery in Austin. In 2005, it was decided that production would be moved to InBev's larger brewery in Jupille. However, the move never took place, partly due to the dissatisfaction of local residents with the loss of a traditional brand and the largest employer, and partly due to concerns about changes in the quality of the beer. The brewery's flagship and most famous beer is Hoegaarden, which is also well known in Czechia. It is a traditional Belgian white beer, or witbier. Hoegaarden also produces other flavored witbier variants, which you can find only at our Beershop.
