About the brewery:
In 1923, Edouard Boes and brewer Jozef Indekeu joined forces and founded the Alken brewery. Five years later, they launched Cristal Pilsner, which quickly gained popularity, with production rising to 190,000 hectoliters per year. Since 1950, the brewery has even held a royal warrant as a supplier to the Belgian royal family. Today, this iconic brand is part of Alken‑Maes, alongside other Belgian treasures such as Mort Subite, Grimbergen, and Maes Pils. The brewery works with local farmers and brews its beer using 100% renewable energy, combining over a century of tradition with a modern, sustainable approach.
