About the brewery:
Coopers is a traditional family brewery from Adelaide, Australia. It was founded in 1862 when Thomas Cooper brewed his first batch of beer. A passion for brewing beer has held the family together and helped them through economic recessions, wars, government scams, changing customer tastes and the occasional hostile takeover bid. They have their own centuries-old brewing techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation. All of their beers go through what is called secondary fermentation in bottles and barrels. This means that a small amount of yeast is added to the bottle to gradually consume the residual sugars and oxygen. They naturally carbonate the beer and slightly increase the alcohol content. This helps to preserve the beer's characteristic and complex flavours, as there is no need for further pasteurisation or any additives or preservatives. This sets Coopers beer apart from other beers in Australia and around the world. Coopers uses a proprietary yeast strain that has been cultivated by generations of their brewers. Coopers also has its own malt house and operates a 4.4 MWh gas-fired cogeneration plant.
