About brewery:
Beer has been brewed in Rakovník since the 15th century, and the name Bakalář comes from the local educated beer lover Jiří Pička Písecký, who was a bachelor. In 1900, the city brewery was founded and bottled lagers were introduced. Six years later, investment was made in the construction of a 100 hl brewery, in which beer was brewed until 1981. After the war, the brewery declined until the 1980s when it was restored and its capacity increased. After the revolution, Bakalář became part of Pivovarů Bohemia Praha and was even closed for some time. Then the owners changed in different ways until in 2010 the brewery was bought by a multinational company of beer traders and a new chapter of the brewery began. The brewery now brews beer mainly for export to Russia under various brands. However, their beer Bakalář regularly collects medals and awards in national beer competitions.
